Gabriella Laberge, a French-Canadian singer, had high hopes for her *America’s Got Talent* audition, though it almost ended before it began.
After an awkward start, her violin performance was ordinary, akin to what you’d hear from any street musician. Just as Simon Cowell was about to hit his red buzzer, Laberge surprised everyone with her hidden talent.
She began singing James Blunt’s “Goodbye My Lover” with a soulful, emotive voice. Immediately, Cowell withdrew his buzzer, and the judges warmed to her performance.
Laberge infused the song with a folk twist, adding her personal touch, and even played a violin solo during the bridge. The audience gave her a standing ovation, impressed by her skill and passion.
At 28, Laberge’s choice of song showcased both her vocal and instrumental talents, earning her a unanimous “yes” from all four judges. Fans were equally captivated, praising her as the “entire package.”
Laberge, who had auditioned on *The Voice France* in 2016 and made it to the semifinals of *Destination Eurovision* in 2019, had dreamed of performing on *America’s Got Talent* for years.
